MDSO: Keys woman instructed ‘men to stay’ behind after allegedly making fake bomb threat at MIA

Miami According to authorities, a 21-year-old woman was taken into custody at Miami International Airport early on Tuesday morning after allegedly claiming to have a bomb in her carry-on luggage and asking men to stay behind while telling women and children to leave.

Multiple witnesses heard the lady, identified by Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies as Aliyah Evans of Islamorada, alleging she had a bomb at the JetBlue ticket desks at the airport shortly before six in the morning.

Investigators claimed in an arrest report that Evans was holding her phone, which showed what looked to be a clock timer, while she uttered the words, “I need women and children to leave and for men to stay.”

According to deputies, she tried to avoid passengers on her way to Checkpoint E and dropped her carry-on bag close to the counters.

Investigators say witnesses identified Evans, who was swiftly taken into custody by Customs and Border Protection officers. According to the report, her luggage was examined by a bomb squad and K-9 team, and no bombs were discovered.

According to authorities, the incident briefly disrupted the terminal.

They claimed that while the area was being secured, delays occurred because Evans pushed over lane barriers and caused a disturbance that alarmed travelers and airport employees.

Evans faces one count each of disorderly conduct/breach of the peace and filing a false report regarding the placing of a bomb or explosive, according to jail records.

According to deputies, she was transferred to an MDSO station for processing but refused to be interviewed because she claimed the right to remain silent.

Evans’ bond was indicated as to be set at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she is currently being held as of Tuesday.
