WESTON, Florida, CubanAccording to court documents obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday, American actor William Levy has been admitted to a misdemeanor diversion program after being arrested at a restaurant in Weston earlier this year.

Southwest Ranches resident Levy was taken into custody in April after deputies claimed that on April 14, he became inebriated and would not leave the expensive Argentinean restaurant Baires Grill, which is situated at 2210 Weston Road.

The 44-year-old, who is well-known for his parts in Hollywood movies, telenovelas, and as a former Dancing with the Stars competitor, was first accused of trespassing and disorderly intoxication.

Levy can avoid a criminal conviction by fulfilling court-mandated conditions, such as community work, counseling, or alcohol education programs, as part of the diversion program, which was filed on June 20.

Usually, Broward County first-time, non-violent criminals are eligible for the program.

Employees of the restaurant described a hectic atmosphere the night of the event on 911 previously released tapes that Local 10 News was able to get.

One caller informed dispatchers that they were getting into a fight with another customer and becoming more combative because they were drinking too much and didn’t want to leave or pay the bill, so we tried to give them a discount.

Levy was given many requests to leave and a trespass warning, according to deputies, but he disregarded them and was arrested.

After he was released from the Broward County Main Jail, he bonded and told reporters that he had been attempting to diffuse a fight between people.

Levy has starred in and appeared in a number of Hollywood films, including Tyler Perry’s Addicted and Girls Trip, in addition to acting in a number of telenovelas.
