DEIR EL-BALAH15 Palestinians were murdered by Israeli bombings in Gaza early on Friday, and a hospital said that another 20 individuals were shot dead as they were waiting for help.
The U.N. human rights office reports that since it started operations in late May, it has documented 613 deaths in Gaza in the last month, including close to humanitarian convoys and as Palestinians attempt to approach assistance distribution centers operated by an American organization with Israeli support.
According to spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani, the rights office was unable to assign blame for the murders. However, she stated that it is evident that Palestinians attempting to reach the distribution centers run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation had been shot at and shelled by the Israeli military.
According to Shamdasani’s statement to The Associated Press, 509 of the total number of fatalities were at or close to GHF distribution stations.
Information continues to flow in, she continued. It is unconscionable that this is still going on.
The GHF claims that shootings outside of their local area are under the jurisdiction of Israel’s military and has denied any significant injuries or fatalities on its grounds.
Friday, 20 people were slain close to relief distribution facilities.
Overnight Friday, officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported further deaths near assistance distribution sites.
At least three Palestinians were slain in the vicinity of two GHF-run assistance centers in Rafah. In the Tahliya region’s eastern Khan Younis, another 17 people were slain while they waited for vehicles to pass by.
According to the hospital, eight of the 15 Palestinians killed in Friday’s strikes were women, and one was a kid. Numerous displaced Palestinians are taking refuge in tents in the Muwasi region, which was struck by the strikes.
The Israeli military said it was investigating the reported strikes on Friday. According to earlier reports, the military, whose forces are stationed on the highways that lead to the aid delivery places, shoots warning shots at Palestinians who approach its troops or to manage crowds.
Continuous attempts to prevent war
Shamdasani first stated at a U.N. briefing that the new wave of murders had been documented at GHF locations as well as close to aid convoys. She subsequently told the AP that the murders that occurred close to GHF distribution stations actually occurred at or close to their distribution locations.
According to her, the rights office’s count, which followed a rigorous approach to confirm such numbers, was partially based on data from hospitals that receive deceased people.
Israel’s military also announced Friday that it was looking into the death of a soldier who was killed in fighting in northern Gaza. Since the start of the conflict, more than 860 Israeli troops have lost their lives, including over 400 in the fighting in Gaza.
The most recent murders occurred while attempts to end the 21-month conflict seemed to be progressing.
On Friday, Hamas announced that it was meeting with leaders of other Palestinian factions to examine a ceasefire plan that Qatari and Egyptian mediators had brought to its attention.
Trump urged Hamas to accept the agreement before things worsened after announcing on Tuesday that Israel had reached an agreement on terms for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
After the talks are over, Hamas will provide mediators with its final response, the statement stated.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, there have been more than 57,000 Palestinian deaths in the region. The ministry claims that over half of the deceased are women and children, but it does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its count.
Hamas-led militants killed 1,200 people and captured some 250 hostages in their onslaught on southern Israel, sparking the start of the conflict.
Since the aid locations opened in May, Israeli troops have killed or injured hundreds of individuals attempting to access them, according to Palestinian witnesses and Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The military has denied firing intentionally at civilians, stated that it has only fired warning bullets, and stated that it is investigating reports of civilian injuries.
