U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents attempted to enter the Los Angeles Dodgers stadium grounds on Thursday but were denied entry, the teams announced on social media.

When ICE attempted to enter the baseball team’s parking lots, the team refused to let them onto its grounds.

The Department of Homeland Security claimed in a statement on X that “this had nothing to do with the Dodgers.” “CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement.”

ICE officers were gathered in a parking lot outside the Dodgers’ stadium, according to photos released Thursday. While conducting immigration raids in the vicinity, local media stated that ICE was staging in the region.

It was unclear if Dodgers’ property was the target of any enforcement actions.

A small group of nonviolent counterprotesters also seemed to be drawn to ICE’s presence.

On Thursday, the Dodgers were supposed to make an announcement about community initiatives to support local immigrants impacted by recent ICE enforcement raids and protests.

Some members of the team have already unofficially acknowledged those raids.

Before a game on June 14, singer Nezza performed a viral version of the U.S. national anthem in Spanish against the wishes of the Dodgers, and Dodgers player Enrique Hernandez commented on Instagram in support of the city’s immigrant community.
