Kansas City In his third mound start for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, Mo. Sbohei Ohtani pitched the fastest pitch of his career at 101.7 mph and pitched two solid innings, giving up just one hit and one walk against the Kansas City Royals.

The two-way star, who is serving as an opener while he gradually returns to pitching, started for the first time this season for more than one inning.

“It’s definitely a plus that Shohei was able to throw the ball the way he did for two innings,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated. I was unaware that the speed was 102 mph. I just saw 100, so no, it wasn’t what I expected. I’m going to cross my fingers that he feels well at the end of today.

Ohtani was the leadoff batter in the Dodgers’ 9-5 loss, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

While recuperating from Tommy John surgery, the three-time MVP did not pitch in the Dodgers’ inaugural season. During his five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, he made 86 pitching starts and finished 38-19 with a 3.01 ERA.

Ohtani finished with 27 pitches and 20 for strikes on Saturday, throwing first-pitch strikes to all seven of the batters he faced.

Speaking through an interpreter, Ohtani stated, “I’m glad I was able to attack the zone.” I still need to work on a few minor things, but all in all, I’m content.

After walking Maikel Garcia and giving up a one-out single to Bobby Witt Jr. in the first inning, he threw a fastball at 101.7 mph to Vinnie Pasquantino, who grounded into a double play on a 0–2 count.

Ohtani stated, “I don’t think I would be able to do that in a live BP setting.” Being able to hit this velo and observe how my body responds is pleasant.

After fanned youngster Jac Caglianone on an 89 mph slider in the second, Ohtani retired the team in order.

Roberts stated, “I don’t think you can take the competitor out of the player.” You start seeing 100s and attempting to bully guys when you’re under a little stress. He is the only one who truly knows himself, and I believed he was in charge. Triple digits are still nice to behold.

As the main designated hitter for Los Angeles this season, the 30-year-old has hit 29 home runs.
